Work goes on.

Work proceeds on the things that you all know how to do. So I thought I’d just share a picture or three about the progress.

The track has been ballasted. Little needs to be said about that. You know how it’s done. Appropriately sized Woodland scenics ballast, fixed in place with diluted white glue. I will say this though. I found it easier to manipulate the ballast chips into place. Probably because, quite simply, they are bigger. Quite naturally I also used a lot more white glue to fix things in place.
So that was the ballast and the first coat of scenic scatter down. I used Woodland Scenics coarse turf for that. Which actually looks quite horrible, but as you can see in the next picture. Once the static grass fibers go down things improve no end.
Applying static grass is still a new thing for me, and as micro layouts are small, and the area covered by grass is no more than half a square foot. I figure I can get away still using the hand shaker in the test package sold by Woodland Scenics. It works perfectly fine. It’s a longish process though, spraying glue, adding different sizes of fibres, then teasing those fibres with a comb to stand them up. But it’s worth it and it’s starting to look quite good.
Finally, a couple of scenes that show what I’m after. Images of scenes that I can loose myself in. Scenes that remind me of the place I used to walk during my lunch times. I think it’s all coming along quite well.
